the happening stories

3 weeks after Conference? LOL. I'm so late!
CONFERENCE WAS A SERIOUS BLAST (: I'm going to type the event in details so that I will not forget about this for a many years to come..
Ate breakfast at home. Secondhand Serenade's Fall For You kept playing in my head (:
BEFORE CONFERENCE!I arranged to meet Mimi at the school bus stop at 6.55am. We have to be in school by 7am. Then I met Kah Min on the bus. Alighted and saw Mimi and Clara. We walked to the main gate of the school and saw Denise. The five of us walked into the school. Mimi and I placed our bags into the den and went to help clean tables and carry stuff to prepare for the conference (:
We gathered in the foyer and Mdm Lenny said thank you to us even before we started the conference. 1 guest came really early. We did the school cheer and we continued our duties. My duty was actually in the studio to prompt the guests to place their bags upstairs at the two rooms of the studio but there were no guests that time. Haha. Then I went to help Janjira and Jia Min to arrange the NEWater bottles outside the studio.

STARTING OF CONFERENCE!Guests started to come into the studio and I saw some of my group members. My group is group 10.
They are:
Owais - Canberra Sec
Yin Ru - Damai Sec
Kang Le - Hwa Chong
En Han - Nanyang Girls'
Eddy - Nan Hua High
Debbie - SCGS
Susie - SAC
Shawn - St Pats (he didn't come)
Siddharth - TK
Shan Li
Bernadette
Elenna
Nurul
and I
Debbie, Eddy, Eh Han, Kang Le and Owais were the only ones there. I marked attendance. They were very quiet and shy.
Guys sit one side, girls sit one side. In the middle of them is an empty chair. Quite funny. The other prefects were not with the group as we had duties. I tried to mingle with them and enable them to talk but the response was ~.~. Nevermind. I prompt them to place their bags upstairs in one of the two rooms and they went back to sit down and keeping quiet again. I guided the rest of the guest population to their assigned groups. Quite fun. Haha.
Soon, Yin Ru came and she sat behind Debbie. She's also very quiet. I also guided her to place her bag. I can't really remember what happened after that. Heh.. Nurul told me that one of my group members were at the other end of the studio. Went there and saw four girls wearing light blue skirts. SAC! Haha. One of them is wearing my group's tag colour. I dunno what is that called. By the way, it's
grey. Then I know that she's Susie! Haha. Danielle's friend. Susie went to next next to Yin Ru. And Susie's really nice (: Haha. She talks while the rest are still quiet.
More people came and I saw this group. Mixed. The girls were wearing green skirts like us. Haha. TK. Saw a guy wearing my group's tag. I already know he is Siddharth. I know how he looks like. Yep yep. He's really good/funny. He went to sit on the empty chair that seperates the girls and the guys. Haha. That's really good (:
The event got started shortly after and I went to sit with my groupmates. Mdm Lenny, Mrs Lim and Salimah gave us an opening speech on our theme -
LIFELINE - Stewardship, Succession and Sustainability.

Then we had Ice Breaker Games with out buddy groups (: and have our snacks. Haha. Group 2 and 10.
Group 2:
Chuen Heng - Bedok North Sec
Clarice - SNGS
Gauri - Manjusri Sec
Dave - Maris Stella
Evelyn - Nan Hua
Azira - RGS
Sandhosh - SASS
Carissa - SAC
Hafidzhin - VS
Charmaine - XMS
Kah Min
Wynne
Yi Ting
and Nuzul
And yes, I can remember most of them (: We played Five², like Bingo. So we went around asking people for their signatures and found out that Owais is from Pakistan; Dave has a personal desktop/laptop like me; Kang Le has CCA three times a week etc.

Next we moved on to playing Honey, I Love You.
Game THREE: HONEY I Love You
Instructions: Players form a circle with one player in the middle (it).
The middle person must approach players in the circle and ask, ‘Honey, if you love me, can you please smile?’
The person being questioned must answer, ‘Honey, I love you but I just can't smile.’
The ‘it’ tries it on the same person for three times, but if the victim doesn’t smile, the ‘it’ will have to change target.
If she/he does smile or laugh, she/he becomes "it" and the previous middle person joins the circle.
The person who is "it" is not allowed to touch other players but may make as many funny faces as she/he wishes.

Haha. Nuzul is the 'it' at first and she targets Nurul. Nurul smiled so she have to become the 'it' and she came to target me. Haha. Before she even said anything, I laughed. So I became the 'it'. Ahhh. I went to target Gauri and she actually smiled but she went to cover her mouth ): So I so called failed and the rest told me to target the person next to her, who is Dave. AHHHHH. Dave's a guy. But I still did it anyway. First time failed. A bit saddening. But I kept smiling at him and he finally smiled. Oh my gosh Dave you actually saved me :DD. HAHA. He became the 'it' and we continued playing and targetted almost everybody.

This picture makes me laugh :D
Time pasted really fast and we had to go back into the studio for the talks. We settled down and found out we havent decided our group name yet. Haha. Thank goodness Siddharth said Heartbeatz and we were all fine with it (: Debbie and I decided to go to the 'podium' and explained why our group name is called HeartBeatz. Haha. We just crap :)) I know I was really enthu at that point of time. HAHA. Lub Dub, lub dub. <3333.
And 'GO GO POWER RANGERS!'. HAHAHAHA!
I sat next to Eddy. He's a quiet guy. And he looks like a Malay. Haha. Yah. First talk by Mrs Norma Sit. At a certain point,..
Mrs Norma Sit: When the parents got divorced, it is always the female who gets the children 'cause we woman care..
Eddy: But Britney Spears is a different case.
Me: Hahahahahahaha..
I learnt that Leadership is Someone with a sense of self, purpose and direction who can show the way and that women 2 generations before were faced with discrimmination and they fought so that women now can have a say in the society.
Next talk is by Mr Martin Tan. He's really funny. Haha. He told us about the left brainers, right brainers and no brainers. Haha. When I clamp my hands together, my left thumb is over the right thumb - right brainers who are good in Arts. Eeeeee. So not true. LOL. Eddy's one is right over left - left brainers who are good in Maths and Science. Yeah that applies to him. Haha. Kah Min came and sat next to me. And halfway through the talk, she saw Eddy sleeping. Hohohohoho. I woke Eddy up lah. He was really tried because he slept at 2 in the morning, same as me, but just that he was doing homework while I was watching TV :))
I learnt that Leadership is NOT just about people in positions of POWER but people in postions on INFLUENCE. And not to wait for tomorrow to come when we can do things today :)
Mr Tan also showed us a video about this wheel chair bounded boy who has a lot of inspiration to make the world a peaceful place. Not sure what his name is. It was sad when we found out that he had passed away but he left something that etched in our hearts. Since a boy who is disable have this inspiration to change to world, why cannot we, older, more matured, not disabled people, do so? Yeah. The boy himself is an inspiration to all of us.
Mr Martin talked until 1pm. Way way behind time. We proceeded for lunch and the food's nice. Good job logistics! :) After we all ate, my group did self introduction again. And this time, it was much better than in the morning :) We then proceeded to the foyer to have photo taking and we went back to studio to have Situational Thinking Exercise.
SITUATIONAL THINKING EXERCISE
I was supposed to play the video and the video but in the end I went to switch off the lights and went to hide :D Haha. And I'm not shy :). The situational exercise is about this girl who bought a pair of slippers at the beach and it was punctured by a posionous starfish. She fell into a coma due to the patrol officers and the paramedics who neglected her.
We were grouped into our buddy groups again and we are the Good Western Insurance organisation. We went to 1e2 and got everyone to discuss our stance, rebuttals and alliances with other organisations and decided how much each organisation should pay. At first it was really quiet. Like the gentlemen from Group 2 and my group. Haha. Chueng Heng, Clarice, Debbie and En Han are our representitives. They really did a good job :DD
My group! :)

After making our stance, it comes the rebuttal round. Haha. I wasn't listening most of the time as I was talking to Siddharth about the paramedics and cheering for I dunno what. Haha. Siddharth showed me his Red Cross card or paramedics card or whatever card. He is a paramedic himself :O. Haha. Susie's from SJAB. That's so cool (: Siddharth went to make his rebuttal but he did not finish as there was no time left. Hahahaha. Quite funny lah. This rebuttal round really let me see that some people are joining in such as Kang Le and Eddy. And maybe the rest as well but I dunno 'cause I was sitting with the boys. No more seats with the girls lah..
GAMES!
After the STE, we had games! :DDDDDDDDDDDDD. I was so ganchiong in getting the piece of paper from Kai Ling. Uhhhhh. Almost tripped =x. Haha. We also need to protect a tofu. Haha.
Eddy walked around shoeless. LOL. That funny guy. He does not enjoy wearing shoes. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH.
First station was Humpty Dumpty at the SAC. I played the game before. We had to build a structure that can hold something in 20 seconds (I know what the something is but I just cannot tell :)). We spent between a so so to using a lot of time building a knee length structure to hold something. Well, I can very daringly say that my group is very creative (: Hais. Never taken a picture of the structure. In the end, the item we had to support is an egg. Now I know why the game is called Humpty Dumpty. Well, my group succeeded. Yeah! :D
The next game we played is H2O at the field. Eddy's gonna regret not wearing his shoes! The twelve of us (excluding Elenna 'cause she was in charge of Humpty Dumpty) lines ourselves up in a straight line and to transfer water from one person to another person and so on from a bucket at the start of the line and a cup at the end of the line. 5 are blinded. Haha. I remember Yin Ru and En Han and Nurul were blindfolded along with two other guys. Haha. And the things used for transfering are cups and rectangle plastic sheets?! There are holes and slits in the cups so its not easy. Im holding a plastic sheet by the way :)
We did not have any communication problems because the first person was taking the water way too fast! HAHA. So we were all so gan chiong in transferring the water from one end to the other. We took quite a short time doing the activity but the planning took some time. Haha. I stood almost at the end. Between Yin Ru and En Han. Two blind-folded people.
Haha Third and final station.. I can't remember what station that was. Tangled Up or something. We took our right hands out and hold another person's right hand and left hand out and hold a different person's hand.

We almost solved it in our first try but we made two circles. We tried it the second and third time and we did not complete it in the end due to time constrain. DDD:
TEA!
We went back to the studio to 'surrender' our tofu. Then went to the canteen to have Tea. The food was okay. Not many comments. Then like a bit sad 'cause I know that the conference was coming to an end soon ):
Went back to the studio again. Got everyone settled down. They gave out the feedback form and I found out that I lost En Han's pencil that she lent me since morning. I ran shoeless all the way back to 1e2 classroom but to no avail. I feel rather guilty of losing it. I went back to the studio again to find the pencil. Couldnt find it. I asked Denise to accompany me to go to the canteen to find it and thank goodness, it was there. Lying on the floor. Pheww. I help to take back the polystrene plates and plastics forks and spoons back to the general office. I got worried again 'cause I was not carrying my camera. Haha. Thank goodness it was at the studio :)). Siddharth did not went to steal it. LOL. Salimah was announcing the lucky draw winners and I was one of them :) Got a shirt like Eddy. Haha.
The farewell came really quickly but we managed to take a group photo :) After we took the photo, we were all dispersed. I got that 依依不舍 cum a sense of lost feeling. Talked a little to Hafidzhin and walked to the foyer with Janjira. We walked back again because there wasn't anybody there. Had a final talk with Susie and after that, I couldn't controlled my emotions and let it all out..

Haha! I got this shot at the end.

And I like this gift from us to the schools a lot :)
Picture from Susie.
Felt like calling her Suzz. Haha
We took some pictures and then had a debrief at the foyer when all the schools have left. It was a very enriching experience. Although at the end I was really sad ): I emo-ed for the next few days. Yeah. Post Conferene Blues.
The reason why I typed this post in detailed is because the conference really rocks :) and I met really really good people. THIS CONFERENCE IS A SUCCESS! Yeah, I MISS HEARTBEATZ.

Eddy, Kang Le, Owais, Siddharth, Me, Nurul, Elenna, Shan Li, Bernadette, Susie, Yin Ru, En Han and Debbie
I SO LURVE THIS PICTURE.
Well at least all of them are smiling :)
AND I DO HOPE THAT ALL OF THEM WILL COME BACK FOR INVESTITURE!
Although this conference is really short, but the hard work that we placed in is a lot. For a half day event, we placed in 5 months of blood, sweat and tears. My group didn't bond very well. But at least we all tried. The next conference will be a better one.
What I can do now is to put up a good show during PI and leave an etching memory in those that come.
Till then;
PS. some pics were from Tracy and Karen :)
♥ Meatball !
